Religion
Sometimes, I wonder why you really can't talk about religion in schools. (Im sorry in advance if this is offensive Mrs. Matthews) I don't understand why we can't talk about different religions and have a conversation without people getting bent out of shape. If people would keep an open mind about religion, it would be a really cool thing to study or maybe write a comparison paper about. History classes would be far better if we could discuss different aspects of different cultures religions. Even though I understand why we can't talk about religion in schools, I still disagree with the reasons.
Life
Lately, my life has been taking some unexpected turns. Some were good while others were not so good. I feel like life is speeding by so fast that sometimes its hard to keep up with everything. Its hard to think that senior year is already half way over, and that next year I'll have to make it on my own in college. I just think about that and get overwhelmed a little. Thats the kinda thing that really takes you by surprise. Right now though, Im just going to take it one day at a time.

Christmas
Christmas time is a time that I have always cherished. Its a time that brings families closer together. If you dont get to see your father or brother or mother all of the time, you get a whole week to spend with them and bond. It also gives you a week or two to get away from everything. School problems, drama, and grades all disappear on christmas break. Its the best holiday of all for sure.

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year. Its an exciting break where people get together and give thanks for all the things that happen over the year. It helps people remember to appreciate what they have instead of ignoring it. People can come together for no other reason than to love one another which is a beautiful thing. Thanksgiving is a cherished tradition that will always bring families together at least for a little while.

rain
Rain makes me feel really good. I like just sitting inside with my curtains open, watching the rain. Sometimes, I'll sit in my room and read all day without stopping for anything but food. I've read a lot of books on those days and learned so many things sitting there on a rainy day. Those are the lazy kinda days that I love.

Giving
Somebody told me once that nothing bad can ever come from giving. No one has ever gone poor from giving. When you give without looking for something in return, it is the best feeling in the world. I always get chills when I give just a little money to people at Christmas time. Giving can open up a world of possibilities that only lead to good things. When you give without thinking about it or bragging about it, you have reached a point in life that all people should reach. You are one of a select few who have it all.

History
People who truly want more in life strive to be remembered. History remembers those who go above and beyond. History remembers the actions of the brave or the notorious. Actions are remembered forever while words are always forgotten. Actions are what history demands from us.

Imagery
The coolest sense you can have on halloween is your sense of sight. Halloween is great because you get to see the best costumes only one night of the year. Haunted houses, costumes, and decorations are all part of the exciting night were everything is kinda scary but really cool. Its great to have all five senses on Halloween, but if I had to pick one, it would be sight.

Scary Movies
The scariest movie that I've ever scene is the real Exorcist. Its pretty self explanatory why I don't like it. It had way to many scenes where things would pop out at you and I almost wet myself. I really don't like it when stuff pops out of no where or when people least expect it, the monster is right behind them. That was without a doubt a horribly scary movie. uhh.

Fear
The scariest thing I have every encountered is my dad. I love him to death, but can still shake me to my core when he gives me his look. I don't know if its because he's a dad or not but he has the scariest look in the entire universe. I feel like he can stare right into my soul when he focuses his glare in my direction. I'm never gonna be able to mimic that stare but maybe I can get close when I have kids of my own one day.

Reading and Writing
Life would not be the same without being able to read and write. The world world be a dark place to live in. Reading and writing are the keys to civilization as we know it. Without those skills our lives would be utter chaos with no chance at law and order. These skills allow us to maintain communication and read sign that are placed to keep us safe. If no one could read or write, the world would revert back to the stone age.

Spring
Spring reminds me of birth. Its like the earth and the trees and everything in nature is reborn. When that rebirth happens, everyone starts to feel better and magically gets into a good mood. There could be people that hated winter and just acted terrible all winter long, but when spring comes around its like they were touched by angels or something and now they act like saints. I just really like spring since it makes people happy while bringing back nature at its finest.
Beowulf
Beowulf was a good book for the first nine weeks Mrs. Matthews. I really enjoyed it. Over the summer I kind of got into reading classics like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde along with Bram Stoker's Dracula. The way they wrote was way different than anything I had ever read before but I thought they were very well written. I hope to read more classics soon and look forward to reading in English this year.
Common Sense
Wouldn't the world be a much better place if people used common sense. Sometimes it just strikes me of how many people go about things as if they don't even think about what they are doing. In my Financial Services class, we talked about people getting loans for 500,000 when they may make a combined income of less than 100,000. As time goes on its like people don't even try to use common sense anymore which is sad because its probably the best kind of intelligence you could have.
Reading
The other day I went to the bookstore and bought a really good book. This is not really a big deal for most people because most people care nothing for reading, but I was really excited about the book since I dont get to read a lot of good books. I believe that if more people picked up good books and tried to actually read for fun, then maybe there would be more educated people in this world.

My Brother
What can I say about a brother who I've known for eleven years. He's funny, very smart, somewhat athletic, extremely charismatic, and basically everything an older brother would want him to be. Its not like we don't fight, but we get along so well because he is just like me. He looks nothing like me but he acts exactly the same. I look at him and I'm really proud because I know he will achieve more because I've helped him along every step of his life. When I go off to college I want to see him succeed for the first time without me.
Music
Have you ever felt like you could almost live off of music. Sometimes when I'm just sitting in my room and listening to tunes I feel like I almost don't need air, or water, or food because I could just live off of music. It makes me feel alive and happy more than anything else. It can make me feel good even on my worst day. It lives inside me and I feel like I can relate with every song I hear. Songs I listen to remind me of peoples lives. I just think that music was truly god's gift to man.
Potatoes
Life without potatoes would be tragic. I wouldn't know what to do when I go to McDonalds without french fries. I kind of eat a lot of fast food on weeks that I have to work a lot which usually consist of french fries. French Fries, mashed potatoes, and loaded potatoes are American dishes that only people who consume 5 or 6 thousand calories a day can handle. Without potatoes, the world would be a cruel place to live in.

Love Is Blind
Chaucer's view on love is very wise. Love is blind. Many people can go through their whole life and not find a companion because they have terrible personalities. This doesn't mean that they're ugly. It means that they don't neccesarily get along with others. On the flip side, some people who aren't gorgeous might find it easy to be in a relationship because they are easy to get along with. Love is a difficult thing to understand.
Weekend
This weekend was one of the best I've ever had. I got the opportunity to play soccer again for the first time in several months. My team wasn't the best I've ever been on and we didn't even win, but I still had a great time playing and that is really all that matters. I stopped stressing out about school and my car breaking down and work so that I could have a great time. My weekend was amazingly simple and yet so satisfiying.

Precipitancy creates Prodigality
Being in a hurry has never appealed to me. I sometimes look at some places such as New York and Boston and wonder how they can live like they do. It doesn't make sense to rush through things all the time because you miss out on so many experiences in life. I try not to procrastinate because you can never turn in anything of quality if you rush through your work. Basically, slow down and smell the roses.

Family
Family is the strongest bond that you will ever have. In the words of Gene Hackman, "Blood is the only thing that counts. Everyone else is just a stranger." The reason that family means so much is that your family will help you no matter what happens. No matter what you do to them or what you do to yourself, your family will always help you out. They might not support what you are doing, but they will always give you a hand when you need it the most. Friends can drift apart, girlfriends can leave you, and sometimes you think you're all alone even though you always have a family to help you along.

Life as I know it
This summer was probably the first real beginning to the rest of my life. My whole summer was filled with new experiences and some pretty cool adventures too. I feel like I matured a lot over the summer for different reasons. I got my first job and earned money for college all summer which was very new to me. I've never had to work for a living before, but I really liked it. It gave me a great sense of pride and accomplishment. I had such a great summer that I was thinking about writing a book about it.
